Recommendations to prepare for inevitable

Advice to a woman...

You need to resolve ALL matters legally for when your spouse dies.  He will die before you because of his age... and the matters of who owns the house, his Will, and the passing of his retirement income to YOU as his heir (not his kids) needs to be ironed out with a lawyer.  Your social security will increase (when you submit his death) because you get a portion of his allocation as his spouse.  Go to the senior center if you need legal help... They usually have retired lawyers there who help you for free.  Make a list and go over it.  You can pay a little extra to them for extra services.  Put the finished paperwork granting you all rights into a safety deposit box at your bank.   Get it resolved NOW so you don't freak out when he dies and end up being put into an asylum where the kids will take everything.  Get it resolved now so you won't worry or be stressed out... and you then just have to do your appropriate focus on grieving for him when he passes.
