Heart rate - what’s good and bad?

Resting heart rate:

A resting heart rate predicts longevity and cardiovascular disease, and current evidence suggests that it is also an important marker of outcome in cardiovascular disease, including heart failure. A normal heart rate is between 60-100 beats per minute at rest (sitting, relaxing, etc.). It is well-known that the average resting heart rate for well-trained athletes is 40-60 beats per minute!

Exercising heart rate:

To determine what a normal exercising heart rate is, you first need to determine your age-predicted maximal heart rate. Here is the generalized equation for predicting maximal heart rate (HRmax) in healthy adults:

HRmax = 208 – (0.7 x age)

Generally, during exercise, you want your heart rate to be at 50-90% of your maximal heart rate. This range should be considered your general target heart rate during exercise.

For Leo:  max is 186.

50%=93, 90%=168

For Lee:  max is 164

50%=82, 90%=148

What's your personal calculation say? The Apple Watch, FITBit, and similar devices can monitor your heart rate.

The fear of running out of money in retirement is overblown

Interesting?:

"Strongly believe the trend is for more workers to work out of lower cost of living cities thanks to technology. I'm shooting for a 8-15 percent return on my investments as real estate is my favorite asset class to build long-term wealth."

Advice on credit card deals

I recently gave advice to Annie when she asked about credit cards 💳.   It might be helpful so I'm sharing it here:

Watch out for 0% deals — it's a lure to get you hooked.  It got so bad for me with credit card debt years ago that I had to roll thousands into the refinance of my house to get rid of the terrible penalty fees.  Still paying it off in my mortgage payment.

Best credit card deals are through your local credit unions (not banks) — join one.  Discover is also good — but still compare the interest rates and fees. Best if you PAY IT OFF every month.  Don't let yourself be charged interest!  It grows into a real problem.  Live within your means.  Don't get more than 1 card if possible.

Best,
Lee
